When should I be booking my session?

Typically your custom portrait session should be booked 4 weeks in advance in order to reserve your spot. Keep in mind we always set aside time for last minute sessions and are always willing to fit you in. To book maternity sessions we suggest somewhere between 28-36 weeks. Newborn sessions are best between 5-7 days after birth but anytime under two weeks old. Please go to our contact form to set up your session time today.

Where does the session take place?

Your session can take place either in studio or in a location of your choosing. It can be in the comfort of your home, at your favorite park, or a wide open field.  Its important to us that you and your family feel comfortable in your surroundings as it will come across in the images. If you have a favorite spot in mind, we always love the excitement of somewhere new. If you don’t have a location in mind, we can help you to find something that will best suit your child or family.

Newborn session usually take place at my in-home studio or in the comfort of your own home. Upon arriving at your home we will walk around and determine the best lighting and backgrounds for the desired photos. During these sessions we typically use the home itself as a background rather than the use of studio backdrops. This will create a more unique image that more accurately reflects your family.

When usuing the in-home studio space, we offer the choice of a variety of backgrounds and the use of professional lighting equipment, which gives you the true studio experience. This is ideal for those winter month's when outdoor portraiture just isn't an option. The studio is located on a beautiful acreage only minutes from Virden, and offers a variety of private spots for outdoor portrait sessions as well.

How long does the session take?

Every session is different but the one thing that is similar with all of them, is that they are never rushed. Typically they are between 1-4 hours depending on the nature of the session. Always schedule your sessions on a day that you won't feel rushed to leave, as this is your custom photography session personalized to get the images that you want.

What should I wear?

Keep it simple. Solid colors work best and it’s nice to see bright fun colors in there as well. Bring along your style, whether its a funky hat, or striped socks. It’s what makes you unique and helps express you or your child’s personalities. There is always time for a clothing change so feel free to bring along some of your favorites as we can help you put things together. If it’s a family portrait, everyone doesn’t have to match but it’s nice to have colors that compliment.

When do I get to see the images?

Usually within a few days, we will post a few images on our blog as a "sneak peek" from your session. So be sure to check it out here. Within two weeks of your session, your images will be available to view in an online gallery. For most sessions we provide between 20-30 custom edited images. Maternity sessions or single child sessions are often a smaller number of images. Once the gallery is up, you will have one week from that day to select the images, print products or packages that you would like to order.

When do I recieve the prints and product that I order?

Generally it takes between 2-4 weeks for prints to arrive depending on the product type. When ordering prints, we require payment in full prior to your order being placed.

Maternity Sessions: what is involved?

These sessions are best done between 28-36 weeks. They can be done in studio or on location. This session can accommodate you, your partner and any other children you have. We will focus on capturing your growing baby bump as well as create a lasting memory of your family’s anticipation. You should bring a variety of clothing options to this shoot; lip-gloss for re-applying and anything else that you feel will help personalize your session.

Newborn Sessions: what is involved?

A typical newborn session takes place between the first 5-7 days of life. The reason for this is that for the first week, babies tend to be in a very sleepy state. This is the best time to capture your baby in the sleepy curled up positions. After 10 days, they are usually more alert and face the risk of baby acne, colic or peeling skin. These sessions can take place in studio or for your convenience we can come to you. The session can last between 2-4 hours, allowing for feedings and rest. We suggest keeping your baby in loose fitting clothing that morning so as to avoid elastic marks from socks or pants.
